Junior Art Club

Dear Art Club parents,
I am truly excited to have your children in the Art Club. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year ahead, teaching your child to enjoy, appreciate and create.
Here is a quick look at Junior Art Club's First semester curriculum.
September
Lives of Great artists in Watercolor: We will discover the exciting lives of artists while using watercolor in their styles. Art Club students are learning about Georgia O'Keeffe and Jackson Pollock's lives and made two pieces of art in their styles. Their Jackson Pollock style painting will be used on cover of their portfolios. Their art works will be collected in their portfolios during the school year. You are welcome to come and take a peek in your child's masterpieces anytime.
October
Clay Critters: This month we will learn to roll, pinch, pull and mold the clay to create fun sculptures. Coils of clay may turn into mighty mice, chirping birds or juicy looking hamburger. We will use air-dry clay, polymer clay, Mexican terra cotta and earth clay. This is a great opportunity for students to explore the clay medium.
November
Exploring Art Around the World: Students will be introduced to stories and images that are fabric of world culture.  We will study Australian aboriginal art and make our own aboriginal art on canvas with acrylic. African masks and Aztec Suns are also in our list of study.
December

Celebration of Holidays: We will be spending time working on projects that are related to the holidays of this time of the year. I traditionally choose projects that can also be given away as a gift.

Senior Art Club

Dear parents,

Thank you for your interest in the Art Club.

Today we studied works of Georgia O'Keeffe and her life. This month students will explore the medium of watercolor paints. They will observe basic watercolor painting techniques (such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and dry-on-dry). Then students will experiment with these techniques on watercolor paper.

Art Club curriculum is designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary skills in depth. As students are introduced to a new subject matter or technique each week, they learn a variety of art concepts including:

    * Portraiture
    * Perspective
    * Still life
    * Realism/Abstraction
    * Art history
    * Color theory
    * Fundamental composition skills
    * Line and patterning
    * Art vocabulary

We will create a portfolio, which will come home end of the semester, in addition to the sketchbook they will be working on continuously.
Art Club will provide them with a comprehensive art literacy that serves them well not just at the drawing table, but also in school and on into adulthood.

If you are interested in enrolling your child here is the information.
* Senior Art Club is $320 for the first semester with $15 registration fee.
* If you like to pay monthly it is $80 a month due 1st day of each month.
* It starts at 3:45 ends at 4:45.

Thank you.
